Question Jerry jugs

I'm looking for ideas to help me secure Jerry Jugs to my rail. I have installed a 1x6 Trex "board" to the stanchions, and screwed pad eyes to it. Got a ratchet strap, however the hooks were too large to fit thru the eyes. Any suggestions?

Re: Jerry jugs

Remove the eyes and use line?
I just tie mine on, have considered bungee's briefly, but the line seems to work OK.

I'm trying to make it so that I can just loosen the strap, and lift out the jug that I need, and not have to untie all the jugs, I have six!

Re: Jerry jugs

One strap, multiple jugs?
You could use drawer handles where the pad eyes now are, the hook will pass under the drawer pulls. Million different styles, maybe go for something simple and stainless?

Re: Jerry jugs

We had sunbrella covers made for each jug with two nylon straps attached to each cover. Ends of the straps have hooks, one of which is adjustable. Side boards have ubolts appropriately located. Very easy to remove or reattach jugs, and the cover protects the jug and contents from the sun. Diesel loves to grow algae if sunlight gets to it

A separate piece of line for each jug, only have to untie one at a time.
Canvas covers for the jugs are highly recommended. A slit on each side of the jug handle allows you to tie a piece of line to the top lifeline.

Keeps the UV from degrading the plastic. Also make a cover for your dinghy fuel tank, for same reason.
