Jenetta's resurrection

Jenetta's resurrection ..
After ten years of restoration, she is back in her element
https://floatmagazin.de/boote/das-ne...n-der-jenetta/

..
In the regatta season 1939, the Jenetta was the only one to beat the fast racing yacht Vim. But then the yacht defaced – and it even sank into a lake in Canada. The Flensburg shipyard Robbe & Berking has now restored the ship according to original plans. She will soon leave the shipyard and face her old opponent again in a matter of weeks.

The 12-fleet on the Baltic Sea is growing: After several years of work, the Flensburger shipyard Robbe & Berking has restored the Jenetta. The yacht was designed for regattas and was considered one of the fastest 12 mR yachts in its – but short active – time. She will compete in races again this summer, expected for the first time on the final weekend of May.
Only lead keel and fittings reused

Opponent Oliver Berking had discovered the Jenetta a good ten years ago on Pitt Lake near Vancouver, Canada, where it was rotting in front of it. He decided to buy the boat. But while he was negotiating a purchase, it sank – on the first Christmas holiday of 2008, of all places. In a failed salvage manoeuvre the following year, the already badly battered hull was damaged even more, leaving the Berking shipyard with nothing but nothing but to completely rebuild the Jenetta.

Wow, that's one heck of a restoration project! Made our restoration project on Phoenix look easy in comparison.
My German is a little rusty, but did enjoy the article link for more background info.

Re: Jenetta's resurrection

Oliver Berking is owner of Robbe & Berking silver manufacture, finest table silver.
His passion are old wooden yachts, so he founded a ship yard and Yachting Heritage Centre - english
His first project was the restoration of 12mR Sphinx , built 1939 by Abeking & Rasmussen. Named Ostwind Sphinx was training boat of German Navy and sold 2005 to O.Berking and 2 partners. The beginning of a great succes in restoration and building new projects. Unfortunately the sister boat of Sphinx, ex-Westwind, is missing after she has been sold..

Re: Jenetta's resurrection

I am not sure you can call this a restoration, but more of a completely new boat..all that being said, it is great that someone resurrected her.
