i was wondering what kind of hassles legalities would be involved with buying a sailboat from say florida and bringing it back to canada mostly concerned with importtaxesregistration issues that sort of thing. thanks all
This has been brought up before, so you may want to search for it in the archives.
If the boat you're wishing to import to Canada from the USA was made in Canada, Mexico, or the USA then you not have much problem and reduced taxes. I believe, but do not quote me, that you will only be paying PST in that situation.
If the boat was imported to the USA, you'll also be paying GST when importing to Canada.
Registration after you've imported and paid the taxes is no different than a local boat. Make sure you have all your receipts.

Hassle is a relative term, depends where the boat was built and where it is registered, difference between documented boats and State licence boats. If you had an Alberta address you would not have to pay PST. GST is a must pay.
