Islander Freeport 36- Looking for Dodger or Full Cockpit Enclosure

Hello,

I recently purchased an Islander Freeport 36, cabin layout B in Alaska. Given the weather here I would like to prioritize getting a dodger or full cockpit enclosure for the boat. It currently has neither. Unfortunately there are no canvas shops nearby that can do the project and it will be a long time until I can sail the boat to where there is a canvas shop.

Does anyone have a dodger or full enclosure for an Islander Freeport 36 that they would be willing to sell me? Its fine if its old, torn and moldy since I could then send it to a canvas shop and have them copy it.

Alternatively if someone is on here with and Islander Freeport 36 that lives near a canvas shop, I could pay you for your time to have a canvass professional come take measurements on your boat.

Other ideas are very welcome as well!

Not sure where you are located but there some canvas shops that have patterns for different boat models that they can use without being on your boat to measure. Genco Marine in Ontario, Canada would be one example of a shop that might be able to help you out. Maybe there’s a shop closer that can help you. Or buy a Sailrite kit and spend your winter sewing your own.

I called Genco Marine and Jessie the owner is going to work with me over the phone and email to manufacture the enclosure from afar. Thank you very much for this great reference!

I like that boat. I wonder if a canvas maker in the Seattle area would have patterns? those were pretty popular in the area as they were good for cold weather sailing. Also, maybe someone has a local boat a canvas maker could use for measuring? maybe make that appeal.

Great! I’m glad I could help. A friend has one of their dodgers and it’s very well made IMO. Enjoy!
