Island Trader 41 . . . Good Idea ?

Hello recieved a phone call this evening, a friend fund a good project boat for me...will go and see it tomorow...This boat is well within my budget and I realy like this model...at present I own a hinterhoeller 28 in wich I will be living starting spring...I like my H28 alot and have no problem with its smaller size...however I will be living on a boat for many years.

lest say both are in similar good condition...I have no intension of future resale.

is the sea dragon a good idea?

Re: Island Trader 41...good idea?

I think I'd sure prefer living aboard the IT41 vs the H28. Even though you say you have no problem with the smaller 28, I think after a while you would really appreciate the additional room/storage of the 41.

I generally like the Bill Garden design boats, and if the price/condition is right and you like the model ... why not.

Congrat!! I think that will be a great cruiser/live aboard for you. As the owner of a CheoyLee, I suggest you plan to recaulk your deck fittings and redo any dodgy seams to help eliminate deck leaks. I'd roll a little paint on that baby and put it the water this spring and use the proceeds of the H28 sale to finance any future work. Have fun!

thanks will do the deck when in the bahamas next year...for now its in good condition and has no sings of leaking...will do paint touch ups asap.

The Hinterhoeller is an awsome boat that few contamporary boats can match...I am keeping this baby for my kids to enjoy...at least thats what I want to do.

Re: Island Trader 41...good idea?

Working on your boat in the Bahamas sounds like a great idea! We are getting more snow tonight after a blizzard on the weekend. I can walk onto my roof from the pile of snow in the front yard which is convenient since I've had to shovel it off twice. Bahamas...yum!
Back to your boat. I painted mine 2 years ago with International Paints Perfection (2 part) and was very pleased. Rolled and tipped.
