You must have been. I have no experience buying from one. I just look at the on line ads where it is obvious the salesman does not have a clue. Some do but others seem like it is throwing **** on the wall and seeing what sticks?

Re: Hylas, Outbound, Island Packet

I own an early Hylas 46 ( hull #14) built in 1997. Absolutely rock solid with no hull/ deck leaks or delamination. Just my experience, but I looked at many of them and never saw any evidence of those problems in any of them.

Not our experience at all. Using a broker on three transactions now, has saved us many tens of thousands of dollars, along with preventing many, many problems. Sounds like you either picked the wrong person, or are simply repeating generalizations which are not helpful.

'Just read your second negative post stating that you "have no experience buying from one." So I guess that makes you an expert?

The Outbound 46 is pure sex. Function over form at it's finest, even though it's form is still downright beautiful.

Re: Hylas, Outbound, Island Packet

We looked at hylas and outbound. I'd prefer either to IP, personally. The outbound was a great cruising setup and the first boat my wife fell in love with, but it just wasn't big enough for our needs (nor was 52).

I personally preferred the heavier S&S Hylas 49 to the Frers Hylas 46. The 46 was significantly more tender, but probably would be quicker in light air.

I cannot speak for the IP, but any of the others are great boats.

Never argue with a fool, me. Your term.

I just have a basic mistrust of sales men. There are born Salesmen and then congenital liars.

When I see poorly composed ads and nomenclature that is way out in left field, it makes you wonder.

It just appears that some of the ads are throwing **** on the wall.

I guess my comments may be buyer be were.

And yes I have dealt with dealers not brokers. The other mistakes I made on my own.

I feel sure some brokers are reputable. Everybody needs to make a buck

We weren't interested in the Outbound he had. He mentioned it because it was one of three pristine boats he had in his listing. The second was the Sabre we were on. Don't remember the third.

Re: Hylas, Outbound, Island Packet

I love the looks of all of them.... but... if you are to travel the Caribbean and the Pacific, my FIRST requirement is a center cockpit. Far better protection from big seas and spray.

Its your choice but none of the boats you suggest would be very secure in a big following sea.

GL and fair winds

Re: Hylas, Outbound, Island Packet

I believe the IP465 and Hylas 46/49 are still center cockpits.
