hylas 44 1989

Hi, im new to this forum. would like to get some opinions on purchasing a 1989 hylas 44 here in port aransas texas. it is listed for 135K. this would be my cruising yacht/condo on the texas coast. i am to look at it this weekend. my friend said this is a great deal as compared to other comps. i know they have a solid reputation. obvioulsy a survey would be done. but if i had to sink 40K into this would it still be a good deal? any sage advice opinions appreciated.

MOST Hylas 44's were in charter in St. Thomas early in their lives. As such, they tend to have high engine hours and possible damage from lack of care.
That said...they are excellent boats with good live aboard space and storage and sail well. If she is in good shape, I'd make an offer like the broker suggests...120K for that boat would leave you plenty of room for improvement unless there is something seriously wrong. Get an INDEPENDENT surveyor!
