Re: Hugo Boss

I thought it was the old HB that is up for sale. I believe the one he is sailing is the new one.

Re: Hugo Boss

Not Hugo Boss, but Gabart and Joyon are neck and neck with about 25 nm to go. Both of these flyers are moseying along at about 4 or 5 knots.

Meanwhile, Hugo Boss has just passed the 1/2 way point this morning. Thomson figures to gybe tonight and head for Guadeloupe.

Re: Hugo Boss

It looks like Axex Thomson on Hugo Boss set in at the North end of the island instead of Pointe a-Pitre unless the cartography is off by quite a bit however the Tracker has him stopped and pointed in the wrong direction. No news yet on the website.

Re: Hugo Boss

Thomson's maneuvering is very strange. If anyone find any news, please post.

Re: Hugo Boss

I wonder if he was sleeping and his autopilot took him off course?

Alex Thomson Racing have issued the following statement following an earlier incident:

"Alex Thomson Racing is currently managing a developing incident, which occurred during La Route du Rhum: Destination Guadeloupe. Today between 21:45 and 22:00 AST Alex Thomson’s IMOCA 60 race boat grounded on Guadeloupe island. Skipper Thomson is safe, uninjured and in no danger. Structural checks are ongoing. The situation is being closely reviewed and monitored by the technical and management teams at Alex Thomson Racing, who are in contact with Thomson, together with the Route du Rhum race organisation. Thomson is continuing to race onboard HUGO BOSS and intends to complete the race"

Ooops indeed. He is on his way again with about 50 nm to go and nearest competitor is about 200 nm behind him.

Re: Hugo Boss

Alex had to use his engine to back off the rocks so race committee is filing a protest so he may be disqualified. Just shows what can happen when you are fatigued.

Re: Hugo Boss

I think the asking price for the current Hugo Boss may have just dropped a bit. I'd love to put on my favorite brown pants and take that thing for a spin.

The speeds of this latest generation of 60's is really impressive.

I'm glad he's ok.
