I've been practicing mildly stormy weather sailing, reefing and heaving to on my MacGregor Venture 17. I made a set of storm sails for it, they helped steady the boat when a triple reefed main was too much. I found a sea anchor to be helpful at times as well. Really looking forward to trying out the NorthStar 26!

That sounds good. I think you'll enjoy your boat. Remember: it's quite difficult to capsize a keel boat like this due to strong wind.

One time we were totally overcanvassed when a line squall came through and although we had to let the sails flog for a minute or two and the boat heeled alarmingly, she popped right back up!
