A lot of Admirals much prefer a catamaran, - solves two problems - happy Admiral and shallow draft.

I believe an Island Packet 40 and a Lagoon 380 have the same draft?
Not sure, just going off of what a Lagoon owner told me their draft was.

Solves one issue - the draft

Lagoon 380 draft is 3'10", but it doesn't fall over when the tide goes out.

Re: How limiting is draft?

No matter how many places your draft excludes you from, you will still be able to visit only a fraction of what remains. The world is a breathtakingly large and beautiful place.

40 ft Island Packet around $250k - roughly same price for same vintage Lagoon 380.

The older 40’ IPs are maybe a little over 100K.
They draw 4.5’, which is what I was told a 38’ Lagoon drew.
I paid much less for my 38 IP and it draws 5’.

If you go here: https://fetchinketch.net/where-are-we-now/

You will find the track of our voyages with a lot of time in the Chesapeake, and the Bahamas, and the BVI. Have a look and see if you feel our 6'7" draft is too deep for your idea of fun...
According to your track you sailed right over the middle of Great Abaco. That should put the "deep keel in the Bahamas" debate to rest.
