It's located in Yucatan, Panama. A non-existent place.

I'll send you a deposit, oh I sent more than I should have, could you please refund the deposit and I'll send the right amount? Nice pictures of a couple different boats, but I do like the fully buttoned main feature.

Re: Honest reviews on this boat please!

Sounds like a scam. If still interested ask for location and have a local confirm it's there and for sale.

Re: Honest reviews on this boat please!

Could be logical explanations for the discrepancies. If you're looking in this area for a boat anyway you should contact the seller and get more info.
I've seen beautiful ads for terrible boats and sloppy ads for good ones.
If this isn't your preferred area to buy then there are a lot of good buys out there.

Hi! It's an excellent Dufour 35'. Very well built on the heavy side (6.3 metric tons). I had a small Dufour 27 back in 1974 that I sailed on lake Ontario before going offshore on a C&N 31/6 tons. I would take the 35 anywhere reasonnable (Forget the roaring 40° south!). Back then they didn't have osmosis problems. The layout is dated & I would consider that sailboat perfect for a couple. I would install an Hydrovane selfsteering for ocean passages since Hydrovane is a selfcontained rudder that allows you to lock the main rudder & doing so you gain very good broad reach & downwind longitudinal stability, something that fin keel & spade rudder configuration lacks. Remember that crossing ocean is often a 21 to 30 day downwind passage. Cheers !

How odd, the photos have Kali Boat stamped on them and they are a yacht broker, in France. Doesn't seem to appear on there listing though.

If it's for real, and you can get legitimate title with no liens, fines, duties etc outstanding, that is a hell of a deal. If you've the time, fly down, hire a local advogado/attorney and check it out.

Re: Honest reviews on this boat please!

It is two different boats....misrepresentation.... for me, when things do not start of right at the beginning, they do not improve. I do not proceed.

Long way to panama

Any money sent could be a problem

NEVER BUY A BOAT without seeing it in person, doing a full on personal inspection by myself, and of course a professional surveyor picked by you.

Also, I would take it out for a full on sea trial, and sail that boat, check out the running rigging , lines sails, anchor, reefing, roller snarler, does the main fit the boat.

How about leaking hatches or seams.

Check out all systems, engine, engine room, rudder, prop and propshaft, transmission , all electrical, cabin lights, running lights, anchor light, steaming light. Batteries and charging, all belts and filters and pumps. head system, fresh water tanks, and fittings and pump, GPS, VHF, auto pilot.

Below the water line as well.

All lines, running rigging, sheets, traveler , halyards, and hardware.

The list goes on and on.

That is how I would approach purchasing a boat. And one in a foreign, and any clouds on the title, and is the title even authentic.

There are a lot of things to think about when purchasing a boat.

I have been sailing professionally a long, long time, as well as for fun, on many, many different vessels as skipper. On older boats, the list of descrpancies , serious and minor can be quite long.

You are totally free to do as you wish, but something is not right from jump street. IMHO.

Re: Honest reviews on this boat please!

Why would the listing say the buyer's location is important, but state a strange and probably non-existent location for the seller? Scam clue one, which is enough to provide an alert. More and even stronger clues mentioned by others in earlier posts. If you decide to proceed, the choice is yours, but extreme caution and and no deposit policy recommended at all stages, including verification of any title.

I like the one with the prettier curtains- not the striped ones.

Re: Honest reviews on this boat please!

lol, right.. I've talked to the gentlemen selling it and he's certainly a bit of a "fast talker" Assuming he used pics of another boat for some reason.. maybe cause he didn't have any additional on hand. There is a bit off a language barrier and using WhatsApp can be challenging..

I get the feeling he's legit but also hiding something. I asked him if he had done a survey and didn't get an answer.. He basically says it's such a good deal and getting a survey done in Panama is expensive.

Worth checking out? I suppose you never know till you see it in person
