has anyone used Victron "super cycle battery"

I'm looking at new batteries and like many boats, squeezing amps into my space is a challenge. My boxes are sized such that using the space effectively is very hard for any standard battery.....group 31's leave about 5 inches of unused length and 4D's don't fit. I have searched a lot over time for the highest amp battery that fits.

While i have seen Victron before, there is a new(to me anyway) battery Victron called "AGM Super Cycle Battery". The have a perfect fit battery that would greatly increase my house bank without having to reconstruct anything.

My 2 questions are 1) Does anyone have any experience with these as house batteries? 2) On the victron site they recommend AGM for thrusters and short usage, and GEL for house batteries....this seems different that almost everything i have heard.

Any help is greatly appreciated

Re: has anyone used Victron "super cycle battery"

Victron really knows its stuff, excellent quality in general, but I have to believe are very pricey for batteries no matter how wonderful.

Don't limit yourself to 12V automotive group sizes, best competition for true deep cycle is lower-voltage batts put in series strings.

Have you looked at plain 6V FLA GCs?

Also see 2 and 4V units, at that sort of pricing Rolls / Surrette would be tremendous value.

In the US Crown, Deka and US Battery are great value, and of course Trojan.

Duracell GCs sold at Sam's and Batteries+ are made by Deka, under $1/AH @12V!

Sadly down-under nothing is as cheap as that
