Hailing Pre 1973 Morgan 38 Owners

looking for a boat manual, centerboard diagrams etc. looking at a sleeping beauty, looks like it's worth getting her rolling again. looking for rigging details etc. can't find hull id number?

sails are being delivered next week from out of town owner. would the sail number match hull number?

Re: Hailing Pre 1973 Morgan 38 Owners

I raced a Morgan designed Heritage One-Ton for 17 years. 37 feet and some inches. No Centerboard. Nice boat, fast and very seaworthy. This boat is still winning trophies on Lake Erie. Many that remain are cruising. This is a well built vessel.

The registration should have the hull number. You could check with Catalina, they bought Morgan, but doubtful that they would have any records from a boat so old. Doubt if you'd get much useful information even if you could find an original manual. The manuals for those old boats were often pretty worthless.

well i found she's number 66, kinda cool. unrolled the main today looks good. biggest concern is the ol' 4.107. the exhaust needs refitted and fuel drain. she puffed black some when checking the starter but not ready to start yet, filters new fuel etc first. thanks for all the help!!

Re: Hailing Pre 1973 Morgan 38 Owners

This may not be that helpful to the initiator of the thread.
But the Morgan 38 (1969?) is an entirely different design from the Heritage One-Ton.

I also believe there was a Morgan designed one tonner called the MORGAN 36T (1973).

Just to satisfy my own curiousity, I'm wondering if the Heritage One Ton is a later and different design from the 36T (as I believe it is). I know that during this period, the IOR rating for 1 Ton was increased, so that the average 1 tonner was longer by a foot or 2.
Since I have almost nothing on the Heritage model, I wanted to ask 'Nicholson58' for permission to use one of his photos of the Heritage on my site. (will PM).
I would also be most grateful to hear from someone who knows more about this.

Thanks very much.
