Gulfstar 40 Ted Hood Version

Hi:

Looking to purchase a Ted Hood version of the Gulfstar 40. I understand there are only 19 of these built.

Is there any feedback anyone can give me on this Gulfstar vs the 37 Gulfstar Aft Cabin? I'd appreciate it!

Re: Gulfstar 40 Ted Hood Version

Hi, I have a Gulfstar 40 (Hood) which is nothing like the GS 37. Different designers and hull shape. I believe the GS 40 is a take off of the famed "Robin" series. They are fast by comparison, stiff and can withstand a blow in greater comfort than even newer lighter versions of today. I would love to be in contact with any other owners. I know only 2 at this time.

Re: Gulfstar 40 Ted Hood Version

If anyone is still following this thread, I raced and cruised on the Hood Gulfstar 40 for 12 years. The family owned one which we sailed extensively from the time I was 12 to 24. Great boat. Goes upwind like a sunuvabitch. Awesome to roll up the board to 4 foot draft and get in those shallow spots. My dad won literally a room full of trophies with her. He had a shelf mounted in his office that went around all 4 walls lined with trophies and plaques. Built like a brick outhouse.
