Re: Full keel live aboard cruiser?
Nauticat 441 (or 44) would be a nice full keel boat from the old continent.
Maybe you can find a sufficiently protected rudders and propellers also on fin keel boats. The rudder could have a skeg, and the rudder could be built so that only the lower part of it breaks if you hit something hard with it.

Re: Full keel live aboard cruiser?
I know you specified full keel, but also take a look at some of the Oysters in your price range. There's no reason you can't have both accommodations and stability for ocean crossings.

Re: Full keel live aboard cruiser?
Nauticat 40 or 43, they are S&S designs, the 44 is not. The pilothouse was one of the items on top of our "needs" list.

Re Cal Cruising 46:
....."Jensen Marine purchased the right to build and the hull, which they used as a plug, from Willard Boat Works. They made some modifications such as adding a dinette, lengthening the deck house, shortening the forward cabin, and putting sea berths in the owner's cabin--one on either side. It was called the Cal Cruising 46, or CC-46 for short. They made it so livable that Jack Jensen, President of Jensen Marine, built one for himself in which, when he retired, he sailed more than 110,000 miles. His boat hull (#3), named Satori, is now owned by Tom and Bobbie Vandiver who have added a substantial number of sea miles to her logs."

Re: Full keel live aboard cruiser?
What roverhi said , this is the 42 . SOUTHERN CROSS - W42
This is the 43 HIATUS - Westsail 43
Interesting note : same hull , the 42 is center cock pit . 43 is aft . The Westsail 42-43 came in all types of rig configurations . I even saw one schooner rigged .
Disclaimer : I have no connection with these boats .

Cabo Rico, especially if you like Crealock designs. The 45/47 fits your requirements.

Crealock designed many fin-keel boats too. The Pacific Seacraft designs by Crealock have a stout fin keel and skeg-protected rudder. They are pretty bulletproof. I've got a Crealock Pacific Seacraft 44-footer and I love it, but it probably doesn't have the room below that the OP is asking for.

What about Cabo Rico's ?
Does anyone have opinions on these vessels?
I was looking at a CR 56 but there is no washing machine on board.

Crealock, Hans Christian, Globe, Cabo Rico. There are many out there.

Re: Full keel live aboard cruiser?
Again, thanks everyone for your generous advice.
Cabo Rico is exactly the right thing. Thanks. I will look more at them!
The only problem with Hans Christians is the upkeep of all that teak...
I agree that Island Packets offer a lot of accommodation. I think their 380 is the biggest 38ft boat on the water. The trouble is, and I'm sure you can all relate to this, is that I have fallen in love with the 445/465 and the 485. The 485 may be a bit expensive for my purse but maybe with a deal? Also, my wife loves them which helps lots.
As for the looks... I think IPs are as good looking a boat as there is so there must be no accounting for taste 😀

Re: Full keel live aboard cruiser?
Just to offer an explanation for myself.... It's the rack and pinion steering that sells it to me. The man who designed that... Well he cares about getting home after a day's sailing. That's how I see it.

Re: Full keel live aboard cruiser?
PPS.... The little gif photo in my side window was taken of the sun rise over Moonshines bow on passage between Menorca and Sardinea... 200 mile crossing is one of the longest common passages in the Med and we had a beauty though it was a bit calm at times and we did motor a lot. I miss the sea.

Re: Full keel live aboard cruiser?
Oh , I didn't see that post by Saltyhog.
Chuck Paine redid the more recent 45's - 56's
There's a very roomy Kristen 52 in Victoria Harbour, BC for sale by the Salts Ass. they want 319K Can. ... donated boat , so offer half.
It was built for the manufacturer's owner ... I believe it has all the stuff OP is asking for.
Note: Steel boat, but well done. 1995
