Fuji 35 Sailing Performance Question.

Hello Folks,

Any idea on how the Fuji 35s ( cutters ) sail.

Primarily looking for

1) Windward performance. Holding course/Heeling/Hobby horsing.

2) performance when compared to other heavy displacement boats like Westsail 32, Downeaster 32, maybe Carpe Dory.

Thanks in advance.

Try running the numbers from Sailboatdata.com is the worlds largest sailboat database. thru this:

Rate Your Boat-gosail.com

and come up with the boats you are interested in. That will give you a good start at least.

Re: Fuji 35 Sailing Performance Question.

I don't know how the Fuji 35 sails, but I like the design. More than thirty years ago I made a trip to Maine and we look at a Fuji yacht, and we were impressed. I owned a Westsail 32, and I loved it except when I was sailing to windward.

Re: Fuji 35 Sailing Performance Question.

I think the Fuji's are good boats (were?) I wouldn't expect it to be a witch to weather though. Should track well, probably hobby horse less or no more than the others you note. The Cape Dory may point just a bit better, the Westsail a lot worse. This is just based on seeing the underbody etc no actual experience with the Fuji although I've been on CD's and WS's.
