From Sarasota to Havana

Can anybody advise me innexpensive marinas on the way from Sarasota to Havana.

Some people say that it is better not to go south then Fort Myers untill Novemer. Is it true? When good season is starts to go south from Florida?

why do you need a marina? it takes longer to hit ports. also I am going in October to Key West from Sarasota. when you hit Key West you may want to try stock island for a marina cheapest island in the keys.

Re: From Sarasota to Havana

I am going around the 18th.
when I do it solo, I sleep 1/2 hr shifts near the radar or "heaving to" for 2hrs ,but I may have a guy at marina jacks that wants to go and this makes for a way more relaxed trip.

That's good. But I don't have radar. Don't you think that 18 October to early and you can meet strong rain or hurricane?

Does anyone else find this thread surreal?

What does the advice of a radar have to do with the length of the sail.

It took these guys 20 hours:

Setting Sail for Cuba - Articles | Travel + Leisure

The rules have changed several times since they went, so I don't know how practical their advice is.

Re: From Sarasota to Havana

theirs plenty of cheep marinas between the 2. now thru oct you will have bad storms close in after 3pm usually so if your not in port by than you might be going in at night. not the best idea. i just got back from the dry Tortuga and the gulf was beautiful till we got back by the coast on our way home. storms were still gong till about 2 am.
