We have a timber/wood boat, western red cedar, strip planked, glassed inside and out. The guys with older woodies don't think we are a real timber boat, so I tell them, consider it nature's carbon fiber composite construction.

I have been incredibly impressed with how well she is built, how stiff she is, and how strong. Sorry to brag.

Wandering Star is strip planked without glass and as strong as a tank. I have owned a strip and glass Melonseed, stiff, durable, much lighter than the 'glass ones.
I have six boats and they are all wooden, well, the seventh and eighth are folding cloth boats.
