My wife and I bought our first boat
the other day! It's got a little deeper draft
(4 ft) and a little smaller cabin
than we were looking for, but it's in great shape, has fresh bottom paint
, a solid trailer
, included a slip through September, and we got it for a good price
. Plus this is our first boat
to try it out and make sure we use the thing. we've both sailed all our lives, but this is the first one that is actually ours.
So, it's a Kirby 23, designed by Bruce Kirby. It sounds like there were only a few made (8 according to sailboat data) and it is the Sonar hull
with a bigger cabin
and some other mods. We also weren't looking for a racing
boat, but I think it will fit the bill for the time being. Hoping to do some day sailing
and overnights with a weekend being the longest, most likely.
I haven't been able to find much info on these boats, so any input would be great. We're hoping to launch her this weekend. Hopefully all the pieces parts
for the rigging
are there...Sure is nice to be able to finally add a boat to my signature on here...
