Finding a Surveyor in Caymans and Guatemala

I am a new member, I am looking at possibly purchasing a Swan 36 that is currently in George Town, Grand Cayman and it may be sailing to Reo Dulce, Guatemala.

All the information I can gather indicates this boat is in good condition and had been cruising for the last 4 years in the Caribbean and Gulf area. It was completely refurbished prior to the 4 years of cruising by the current owner. I'm sure there is some wear and tare but it seems to be well outfitted with all I need to start cruising in this area this winter.

This is my first boat purchase so really want to do a thorough survey. I do have a friend who is helping who has owned several cruising boats. I have done lots of research so feel good about this design and the fact that it is a boat that can be a good boat even though it is 40+ years old.

I'm wondering if anybody knows if it is possible to get a survey of this boat at either or both of these location and if so how would I go about contacting a surveyor at these locations?

Any advice would be appreciated.

I service all of the Caribbean. I am based in Florida. Otherwise check out the SAMS or NAMS webpage for other surveyors as Gordmay indicated. Those are truly the best resources for qualified marine surveyors.

I did find a surveyor in George Town, Grand Cayman:

Leroy B. Whorms Sr & Associates

He was Capt. Michael Pickthorne
PO Box 2584 GT
Grand Cayman Cell (345)916-1765
Cayman Islands, BWI Phone (345)949-9210

He has a website at Leroy B. Whorms Sr. & Associates - Home

Capt. Mike did a great job and was very helpful in the survey and purchase of the boat as required in the Cayman Islands.

Thanks
