Elan 45 Quality ?

Hello everyone,

I am interested, if anyone has an idea about the quality of Elan yachts.

We (my girlfriend and myself) are planning a trip around the world and we are looking for a decent monohull. Therefore, we saw a couple of days ago an Elan 45 build in 2003 for a reasonable price.

Does anyone have any experience with an Elan 45? Furthermore, I would like to have your opinion about comparing the Elan 45 with an Bavaria 44 (both almost the same age; build in 2003)?

Hi,

I have a 434 Elan Impression and the build quality is very good. She is stiff sails with ease and tracks well. My wife and I sail regularly out of Malta and the two of us handle it with ease. We are going to the factory in Slovenia in two weeks to see the build quality in person. I also have had very little response from the cruisers forum on others who own Elans. They seem to be more popular in Australia. For a Med. boat they are far superior to the Bavaria's and others.
I would still like to hear some stories from those who own the line of Elan's for cruising. They have a fine line of racing hulls but I would also like some responses from those who own the cruising line of the Impression.

Thanks for your reply. Yes, I'm also very interested, if someone has long-time cruising experience on the Elan. Furthermore, it would be really great if you'd could share your experience regarding your visit in Slovenia.
