Drain plug replacement on Potter 15

I just bought a West Wight Potter 15 and the drain plug assembly broke off at some point in the past (owner wasn't aware of this). So obviously there is a bunch of water soaked into the transom area. I'm not planning on investigating into there too much as this is just a daysailer for me, but I would like to dry it out as much as possible and re-seal it all up with a new plug.

Anyone run into this before and have any suggestions about how best to take out as much water as possible and then replacing the whole assembly?

Guessing I'll have to drill out straight through. Would you use a regular type drill bit for this?

Would love suggestions on where to buy a new plug assembly and what kind of sealant to use when putting it all back together.

Thanks for the help!

Colin

Re: Drain plug replacement on Potter 15

Have you asked a WWPotter group or the builder? Are they still in business? You could also ask at www.sailboatowners.com, where smaller boats are more the fare than here. Good luck.
