Dehler 37

I have searched the forum, but find very little about Dehler sailboats.
Is anyone familiar with a 1997 Dehler 37?

A Dehler from late nineties could be a good deal...or not.
At that time Dehler was in heavy waters..in`98 the Neptunus Group, NL bought it.
2004/05 a dutch investor bought Dehler from Neptunus, 2008 another bankrupcy.
2009 Hanse Yachts bought Dehler, 2012 factory Freienohl closed..2014 over and out...

The Hanse Group is now manufacturing the Dehler. I believe a 29, 33 and 38. The 38 was the first produced and very well recd. It's a great sailing boat, beautifully built with good speed.

I've a 37CR from '95. Keep in mind that there are several Dehler 37 versions; The 37s, 37CWS and 37CR and the older 372. They are all different.

A Dehler 37 from 1997 is most definitely a 37CR version. These come in 2 and 3 cabin version. The 3 cabin version are most likely ex-rentals. In Europe the CR comes with a 27HP Yanmar 3 cilinder engine with a folding prop and electrical winches.

How are the sailing characteristics of your boat? Are you happy with it?
The one I am looking at is a 3 cabin. Would you consider it a good boat for crossing oceans?

Re: Dehler 37

In general the build quality is pretty good. But have this yacht checked by a qualified yacht expert. The rudder is a typical suspected component by design and could be soaked with water. We had the rudder replaced end 2013 and was a known issue when we bought the yacht back in april 2013.
Read my blog on blogboek Yazz | Digitaal logboek van de reizen van de Yazz.
Unfortunately in Dutch, but if you use Google Translate and cut an paste the text you can read the story pretty well. Lot of video stuff there too.
If you want to travel the ocean, have your rigging checked too. If it's as old as the yacht, consider to replace it. By design the keel construction is known as extremely solid.
So with the 3 most important components, keel, rudder and rigging checked as OK, you're ready to travel the world with this yacht :-)..oh one more thing but this is in general; check for fuel/diesel contamination..that will stop you engine from working for sure..(see my blog). I use a little Grotamar71 to keep it clean and without any malfunction ever since
