Curious if anyone can identify which Roberts model this is.

https://www.yachtworld.com/yacht/1994-bruce-roberts-ketch-8514842/

Trying to find which Roberts model this is, and if it's a deal worth flying down to look into as a live aboard cruiser. Thanks!

Ask them if it is a full keel maybe. Could be a Norfolk 43/ Mauritius with a pilot house?

Re: Curious if anyone can identify which Roberts model this is.

It is my understanding that the Norfolk is the same as the Mauritius, just with higher freeboard and flush deck. Hmmm, but the Norfolk I know has a round stern, nearly canoe like.
I sailed many models of Mauritius, and none had a flush deck. In my recollection there is not a lot of difference between the Mauritius and the Offshore series, the Mauritius and Norfolk have a more traditional long keel . The Offshore design quite a longish fin keel with rudder on a skeg. I have seen both models between 43 and 45 ft, I suppose courtesy of a home builder.

But really, for a live aboard, does it matter what model it is?

Research. I would like to know what model, and try to figure out where it was made (among other things) before I fly down to look at it.

Try asking the owner, if no good ask for the previous owners name..
Plenty of pics here..

You have to remember many were home builds so the plans may have been altered by the builders to suit personal preferences..
Just look for BR's plans for 43ftrs and make your best guess..

Unfortunately the previous owner is deceased. I think i'm probably going to offer them 30k for it, even with some major issues that's probably a decent deal. Thanks.

Re: Curious if anyone can identify which Roberts model this is.

Unfortunately, Surveyors down that way are rare. I would offer $25K contingent on a haulout to see if there is anything glaring. If it an estate boat, the family just wants out from under it. It only becomes more of a maintenance head ache as time goes on. I sailed the Sea of Cortez and have hung out in La Paz. I've seen boats at anchor/mooring there for sale sitting well over 2 years as the price drops, drops and drops...and that is with living owners.
If you still want it after the haul out, you can get the yard to prep and paint the bottom. If after the offer and before money changes hands, you find something else wrong, the price goes down from there. Keep your emotions out of it.
I've worked with Tom Murray at La Paz yachts. He is a decent man and I trust him.
Also note the Perkins 4-154 is really difficult to find parts for. That is a bargaining chip also. Make sure you hear that engine run, warm up and try the gearbox. Also try the windlass.
