Adlard Coles was a great seaman.
He also wrote that book in 1967 and as I recall most of his anecdotes in that book revolved around the various wooden boats he’d owned or sailed on. On the whole traditional wooden construction is heavier than glass so that would tend to skew his opinion about what a desirable DLR would be.
