CNSO Mikado for $150-250K - Opinions, Alternatives ?

CNSO Mikado - worldwide cruise with large family. Alternatives in the price range? Been looking closely at multihulls too.

I know it's an old thread but thought I'd reply anyway in case someone else was interested.

Crossed from Cape Town to Brazil in one a few years ago, its a VERY heavy boat that hardly moves in light airs (took 54 days to do the 3700 odd miles). Age of the boat and its equipment was also a problem (everything is heavy and definitely not suited to short-handed sailing). Interior was also not very comfortable with way too little ventilation. I spent a bit more time on the boat again in Trinidad a while later and the heat inside was unbearable while my own boat stayed quite comfortable.

The only up side was how well she handled rough seas, the force 11 storm that hit us a week out of Cape Town felt like a force 9 in most other boats and not the white-knuckle ride I'm used to in those conditions.
