Re: Cheoy Lee 53 Motorsailor?

Ever been on an airplane when the pilot turns on the fasten seatbelt light?
This idea that a high performance Catamaran or an aluminum skinny hull and a tall tall rig or whatever the latest sales pitch is...buy this boat and now you can outrun storms. Sure.
It’s a sail boat. It’s not jet powered. You get walloped and you’d wish you had a submarine. All the weather buoys, electronic weather charts and communications, expert paid weather forecasts. Always totally reliable. Right. Ask any offshore fisherman or any merchant Captain....Can’t you just go around storms or out run them? I’m going x% faster thus I can now outrun them. Yup.
Go out on a commercial or fishing vessel in a bit of what they consider “weather”.
Practice getting into your Gumby suit before you go, because you never know when you will need to do it quickly no matter what vessel nor what forecast.
Happy trails to you.

I agree! I am more inclined to have something that is going to survive if you can't get away. You will never be able to foresee all the weather.
