If the inside was worth seeing, I suspect that he would have included a few pictures. Since he didn't, I'm guessing that he knows that seeing the inside would not help in his efforts to sell the boat.

But that's just a guess. A "suspicion." I never suggested that I know any more about this boat than what can be seen from the pictures included in this thread. Unlike you, I didn't jump to any ridiculous, unfounded conclusions. I just expressed a suspicion.

Outwardly does not look bad I think. (Definitely) remove the dirt, (possibly) replace the rigging, etc. - just the things we do with other projects. What awaits inside can be a surprise I think: I found that boats undermaintained on the outside tend to be even more undermaintained on inside. ;-(

Still, at this price, well worth a closer look.

I think it would be the smell inside that would concern me!! I think this was someones last stop ,you know the last flight out! As a matter of fact I know it was,hold your nose while sailing and one should be ok..ha ha yuck yuck..

There are few smells that cannot be eradicated, given enough soap and bleach. Throw out all the fabric items and start fresh, glass & varnished wood shouldn't hold any odors.

He said the cockpit is moldy as seen in the picture and not rotten.
And the other interior picture suggests that the inside isnt as bad as someone here questionably posted.

Yep. Good news the interior looks restore'able. Her engine somewhat rusty and abandoned.

When a boat is only 12k, who pays for lifting her out of the water to inspect?

Re the mold and obvious humidity around: see if there is a patch of cheap yard area where you might tent her to work on restoration.

How much can be fixed and how soon depends largely on the climate!

There will likely be some rot under that cockpit, nature of the beast. Not end of the world if someone is into a boat project. If the engine is shot a buyer whould evaluate teh sail condition etc.... engine , sails, rigging etc start adding up big time....

I could be wrong but the aft deck area that is under the limbs of the above tree seems to be the dirtiest part of the deck. Forward of that doesn't appear as bad. In Florida we have certain trees that shed and drop tree sap at various times of the year and can make a mess of anything under it.
There are locations/yards in Key Largo and close by that can lift the boat. This would make a nice boat for someone with limited funds and patience. Just my opinion.

IMHO the hogs are always structural elements; sound hull, sound deck, dry ballast/clean ballast bolts, healthy beams, sound rudder and rigging are all essential. Wet wood can be replaced but it is much more time consuming and costly to replace wet deck core. Etc.

This boat, in images, looks like a good fix-me-up potential. If the potential buyer has the skills, time and budget required, I think it is worth considering on-the-dry inspection and full survey (does not have to be by a pro surveyor as long the the party understands what they are looking for and what the common project killers are).

The buyer. Doesn't matter how much the boat is selling for, the buyer normally pays any expenses required for them to make the decision to buy or not.

Decent examples are listed $50-70k...

I wouldn't travel half way around the world for her - but if she was within easy looksee reach then seems worth a visit, if you have the skills and the time (a couple of years, plus?!).

No teak decks is a good start!
