CDI Flexible Furler advice

I purchased a 1977 Islander 26 this spring. It is rigged with a CDI Flexible furler. I want to get the sail down for inspection and cleaning. There is no halyard connected to the head sail. The system performs great but I don’t know how to drop the sail! Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

The halyard is internal. You have to tie or clip a line to the arch(handle ) that is tied to the cleat. That line should be abit longer than the forstay. Untie the short line on the cleat and down she goes. Bob

Re: CDI Flexible Furler advice

Here is the User manual for the CDI furler
The furler halyard is an unusual design. When the jib is fully hoisted, the “tail” of the halyard is removed. To lower the jib, a “tail” needs to be reattached to the halyard. Then the jib is pulled down and the tail goes up to the top of the forestay.
The diagram in the user manual may help explain it.
