Thank you for the quick reply. Are your chainplates embedded in the fiberglass? The boat I'm looking at, the lowers (fore and aft) are SS straps in a triangle (think pool ball rack) with one side of the triangle embedded along the hull, so cannot be removed without grinding away the fiberglass. I attached a picture. One thought I had to "replace" them would be to leave them in place, but cut off the tab that goes through the deck and then bolt a new SS strap onto the piece that angles away from the hull and have it go up through the deck. The shroud would now be about 1/2" inboard of the original, so not sure if that would be a standing rigging design issue.
