Catalina Morgan 440 vs Jeanneau 45 DS

Hi all,
I'm looking to move off land by next spring. I've been looking at both boats online. My long term goal is long distance cruising but I'm still about 20 years out from retirement. In the interim, I'd be cruising either NYC/LI waters or the Chesapeake around Annapolis with some longer trips anywhere from ME to the FL keys as vacation time allows. I'd appreciate input from anyone who has experience on either model, pros, cons, suitability for living aboard full-time, etc.
Thanks in advance.

I would start by listing all the published specifications side by side and when you do you will see they are two very different boats. Two years ago I started looking at new yacht designs in the 40 - 45 foot range and I really liked the Catalina Morgan 440, particularly the shallow draft (under 5 feet) option. I believe it is a genuine cruiser and most reviews rated it highly for that purpose. I ended up choosing to build a custom yacht but it was a close call. Of all the production yachts out there, the 440 came closest to being what I wanted in a cruising yacht. You can google the owners website for the Catalina Morgan 440 which should give more information.
