Catalina 36 Long Delivery

hi all .with the australian dollar surging past the us dollar .and some very good buys in the states.i was thinking could a 2005/06 catalina 35/36 wing keeld vessel be sailed from the us to australia by a professional skipper number one being his safety.i know some delivery skippers just turn up to what ever the owners tell them .but this would be a lot more serious.
but time of year not a problem and some reasonable upgrades could this be done .
thanks for any advice gary.mooloolaba

Could it - yes. Would it be my first choice - that's another matter. I think you should figure out who you want to crew it for you first and then discuss with them 1. the things which need to be done to it to make it a reasonably safe passage and 2. the things which will make it a more comfortable one.

Among the obvious improvements are tankage, rigging, sails, bilge pump(s), sea berths, safety lines, HF radio, battery capacity and charging scheme, sole plate locks, cabinet locks,etc.... all of which are significant additions and you still have a boat with little storage capacity.

thanks very much for the info.looks like it would be as cheap and safer to book a berth on a seven seas boat .then wouldnt have to change any of the design.
thanks again.gary.
