The Boat , I would like to replace the 1990 Honda with a newer lighter motor. Can anyone suggest an engine h.p. that would work well? Do I need 9.9 ? Thanks

Re: C&C 24 Value

Interested to see your journey on this one. I am also contemplating a C&C 24 here in Canada. Its at the top of a list of 6, tho I do have a Tanzer 7.5 to look at on Saturday.

Did you get a marine survey prior to purchase? What other boats had you considered

I have enough knowledge and experience with boats at 63 years old that I passed on the survey. Lets face it sailboats are rarely stored under cover so at over 40 years old will suffer form something. In my case the hull is great but the deck has cracking. For sure some delamination as I sounded it with a hammer but not crazy. I did not consider any other boats as they were all too old and newer ones out of my price range. But for $8,000 I got a clean C&C that will resell because its a C&C. I stayed away from the boats that needed work, if someone is selling a boat that needs work something is usuallu up. There will likely be things they are not telling you. So then you get a survey and spend $1000 to be told it needs a pile of work? Find the newest best shape boat you can afford and I suppose the biggest but I would sacrifice size for quality. What really sold me on the C&C 24 was standing on the gunwhale compared to other boats that were even larger.
