Buying First Boat - ex charter?

Looking to get my first boat. I am currently deciding between a smaller new boat (Hanse 348 is my top runner) or a used bigger boat (there’s a couple Hanse 415s that have caught my eye). How much more expensive would the operating costs be on the 415? I’m asking the brokers if there has been any hurricane damage, etc. I have seen many good things people have said about ex charter and some negatives so would be interested in opinions. Also, if anyone has experience or knowledge on the shipping cost from the BVIs to the US West Coast, I would appreciate any insight. My initial thoughts is that this could be $25k from things I’ve seen but I’m not sure what that includes if it needs to be at a yard before and after shipping.

On the ex charter front, one is a 2013 (which is actually never chartered but 2 owner high hours) and another is a 2016. What should I plan on replacing off the bat on either of these two and are there any cost estimates? On the older one, I would think sails soon, standing rigging, halyards, and batteries. The newer one I am less sure outside of the batteries.
