We made an offer to purchase. The seller accepted the base offer but refused to do the small repairs we wanted. We agreed to take the boat "as is".
Next Wednesday the surveyor starts the survey and that afternoon we do the sea trial. We await a written estimate for two of the little interior repairs. If all goes well I will tell all the details.
I did not want a project boat. This is not a project boat but it is not "perfect" on the inside. The wife wants pretty. I want good sails, rigging, engine etc. We agreed that this is a good boat that needs minor interior work. I also agreed that the interior work is the first thing that we will do if all goes well at marine survey and sea trial. This would be before we move aboard.
After the final negotiation I will give details. Right now I don't want to jinx the deal! The boat may be seen at Yacht World # 1472-2026556. We have a quote for insurance.

Do you think that I should join Seatow? I think that it would be a good thing to do; what do all of y'll think?

My goodness, things have happened quickly. Is there a hurricane headed for Kemah, Texas or something? Do repairs cost three times what you think and take twice as long or is that they cost twice as much and take three times as long as you estimate?

TaoJones, you remembered that I forgot my checkbook and had to drive 400 miles one way to retreive it. We left it at my attorneys office for the 6 years that we were in South Africa. As a matter of fact I had never written a check on that account; my attorney had written every check that had ever been written in the last 6 years. We got back and she was gone and we had to get someone else to let us into her office. Thank goodness it was not locked away! I will not forget it a second time! Thanks for the reminder.

You seem to be worrying about the effects of Murphy's Law on a boat purchase. Remarkably enough, millions of people have brought boats without major hassles. Most likely you will become one of them.

What I like to keep in mind is that with boats there is an opposing law that states :-"At the best possible time all will go right and everything will be perfect."

Wow, a counter-Murphy law. I did not know. What a relief.
However, I question that "millions of people have bought boats" I don't want that many neighbors! I await futher words of wisdom.

Don't join Seatow until you've lined up your insurance policy. Some policies cover the cost of towing.

absolutely join "seatow' or "towboat US" and yes things will cost at least three times as much, it's a boat. And remember "BOAT" stands for "Bring Out Another Thousand"

Rigamole, I forgot length. It is 38' so you might try 36' to 40' in the search criterion.

C&C are good boats. And you gotta keep the missus happy, but the survey may find more important things to attend to than the interior, so first things first.

Is it the one in Seabrook or Kemah?

On edit: I hope you have found a good surveyor. Remember, the surveyor is working for you and no one else. He/she is the most important person in this deal right now.
