Buying a new boat

Hi folks,

I wonder if anyone out there can help me. I am currently in Phuket, Thailand and am considering buying a brand new Jeanneau 45 sailboat from a dealer here. Although my agreement is with the local agency and includes delivery to, and commissioning (including attaching the keel, mast, rigging etc) by them in Singapore, they are insisting I take ownership of the boat and pay 100% of the cost when it exits the factory in France. They tell me this is standard for all new boats from any manufacturer. Is this in fact typical?

Hello everyone,
I'm looking also and need your help.
I’m getting ready to move into a home with just three feet of water at the end of the pier, and I’d like to keep a boat there.
I’ve owned a Cal 25 and Cal 40 and loved them both, but now have to find a boat that: (1) I can camp overnight on; (2) won’t sail like a pig, and (3) draws less than 3 feet of water.
Most of the boats I see that will fit at the pier are water ballasted or centerboards that reviewers say don’t sail very well. I’m thinking of going with a Cape Dory Typhoon Weekender, but would love your opinions and recommendations.
