buying a boat Malaysia

I'm in the states currently but am considering buying a boat in Malaysia. Are there any special things to consider, besides coordinating the travel? I really want to be there when it is surveyed, but that might be difficult. It's my first boat too, and I'm unfamiliar with the process. Does it make sense to get a local buyer's broker in Malaysia?

I have faith in a good surveyor in Langkawi, John Champion, if that helps.

Malaysia langkawi is very boat friendly, easy to purchase and register there.
