I have just returned from Michigan where I looked at the Passport 37 "Grand Cru" that
Boat Angel have listed
for sale.
From the pictures and high
price you would expect a turnkey, Bristol condition yacht. Poking around inside I discovered that the stringer just aft of the
mast base is wet sawdust and the main bulkhead
plywood is delaminating due to
water damage as is part of the frame of the dinette seats, that was enough for me. I spoke with a couple of
boat owners near "Grand Cru" and they couldn't remember the
engine being winterized.
My feeling is that the owner realized he would not be able to sell the yacht as is so donated it to try to get something out of it.
Personally, the way Boat Angel is handling "Grand Cru" has convinced me to stay far away from any of their listings.
Fair winds and calm seas.
