Good EYE!
You found a glitch in my posting in post #145 above. I mistakenly posted the link from one boat into another boats post.
I did find a PETERSON and a PEARSON. Two different boats. I had multiple tabs open on my iPad browser and must have picked the wrong URL. Sorry forks! (Another typo! ).
Here is the link to the PETERSON 34 1978 $12,500
Peterson 34 Sailboat '78
Here is the link to the PEARSON 35, 1981

Sorry folks! I cannot go back and edit to correct those posts. Keep a sharp eye.

Re: Boats with Shallow Draft for Florida, Bahamas, Chesapeake
C&C Landfall 38
Steady NOTES:
1. This boat was designed as cruising boat and has an unusual layout. I am posting this as an example of the model along with specs and a recent (October 28 2016) sale listing to ILLUSTRATE a street price and condition. NOT all of the photos are of the boat in the sale listing.
2. Note this boat like other C&C boats has a balsa cored hull.
3. Note this boat has a V Drive.
_________
Notes from Others about this design and layout:
"Interior arrangements are very much a matter of personal preference and intended use, but for my taste the arrangement of the Landfall 38 is just about perfect for a coastal cruiser. " - Naval Architect Jack Horner of Boat US
The C&C Landfall series was C&C Yachts pivot from proven and fast racer/cruisers to more long-range friendly family cruisers. People familiar with C&C yachts prize them for their speed and construction, as they are one of the only full cored construction yards to get it "right."
The layout of the Landfall 38, along with its proven sailing ability, make this boat a perfect opportunity for those looking to upgrade or for those looking to find a comfortable cruiser with C&C's intuitive spatial layout.
This boat boasts a full size T cockpit with asymmetrically balance cockpit door that leads into the captian's berth. In this berth you will find an offset double on one side and a single on the other, along with a pilots station and charting table. Further forward one leads into a large U shaped galley on port. This galley boasts a gimballed stove, full stainless sink, and has a very large amount of storage.
John Kretschmer of Sailing Magazine writes of the layout, "At first glance this arrangement seems weird but it really works for cruising, especially for couples. The nav station and off-watch crew are within easy earshot of the helm and more importantly can be in the cockpit quickly in an emergency."
Opposite the galley is the roomy head, and further afront is a split salon perfect for extra crew, as each settee can make a single bed in a pinch. Further ahead are hanging lockers and a nicely appointed V double berth. The overall layout of this boat is very attractive to people that know sailing, and that is exactly what Jack Horner means. There is a lot of open space and yet technically there are two staterooms that can sleep up to 7 passengers with both settees.
Horner also states, "Although the Landfall 38 is a cruising boat, her heritage is that of a racer/cruiser. That heritage is reflected in her handling and performance, and she is easily balanced and driven at all points of sail. The sail area displacement ratio is 15.9 and displacement length ratio is 271, both of which are reasonable for this type of cruiser. The large foretriangle and equally large headsails make a good roller furling system a must."
"Construction of the Landfall 38 is typical of other C&C models with composite hull of fiberglass resin and balsa wood core. C&C has more experience with composite construction than practically any other boat builder, and it is unusual to find any significant structural problems with the hulls of these boats. " - Jack Horner of Boat US

Re: Boats with Shallow Draft for Florida, Bahamas, Chesapeake
Liberty Pied Piper 28
Steady's NOTES:
This is a charming small cruiser, with a full keel and cutaway forefoot. I happen to like traditional styling, so I appreciate what the builder has done with the interior layout and furniture, etc. Noteworthy are: the nice interior finish in wood (this may be custom), the multiple opening bronze ports with screens, the head, shallow draft (4'), and styling. From what I can see, it appears to be a nicely designed small cruiser, and one I find appealing.
NOTE: The photos and sale link and specs I post are here to ILLUSTRATE this type of boat and features. The photos may be from a mix of boats. The specs may not match the linked boats. CAVEAT EMPTOR!

Re: Boats with Shallow Draft for Florida, Bahamas, Chesapeake
Bristol 40
The Bristol 40 was designed by Ted Hood.
Motion Comfort Rating = 36.57
Draft = 5' 4"
Mast Height = 46 feet
NOTE: Some of the Bristol 40 boats were sloops (or cutters), some yawls. Some have centerboards.
There were 149 of the 40s built between 1970 - 1997. Sail area for the yawl is 709 square feet, which is essentially the same as the cutter rig (710 sq ft).

Photos in this Post
The photos I post here are to ILLUSTRATE the features and design of a boat. The photos are from a mix of sources and not all of the photos may be from any sale listing links I post. You should look carefully at each boat. I am posting a mix of photos to ILLUSTRATE what one might see in this model of boat so CF members can learn something about the boat design, features, and condition.

Steady's NOTES
I saw this listing posted yesterday, and because it looks like a nice boat that may fit the needs of some CF member, and because the price and gear and condition and location may fit some members, I am posting it here. I have NO connection to the boat or seller. I am posting this to ILLUSTRATE what is on the market for a type of boat and asking price and condition.
Note: this boat has a newer Hard Dodger. I happen to like the dodger and would want one similar in design, but this is not typical for this boat design. It is an added feature. If any CF member recognizes this as a kit or aftermarket product, please let me know for future reference.
Note: There are two lists of equipment found on this boat. The lists are shown as handwritten lists in a photo. I will attach them. The owner stated the engine has just 470 hours on it (Westerbeke W46).
NOTE! The photos of this particular boat are posted in a separate post in a different thread on CF. Look for post #265 in this thread

Re: Boats with Shallow Draft for Florida, Bahamas, Chesapeake
Yes, great boat - really low price. Even with the airfare, but watch out for the things to look for that cost us about $20K (w/o labor) to refit our Hood designed Tartan Classic 37 (with current survey):
deck core
standing rigging and lifelines and all fittings (lost one headstay in the Eggemoggin on our C&C of same vintage - learned fast!)
engine
electrical
shaft seals etc
The decks are the main issue with older boats. We've done 2 and if you aren't a builder who can use a skill saw and lay up glass, you will not want to ask the yard prices
She's a beauty though and probably sails like our ALIDA Rocknak*s Yacht Sales

Re: Boats with Shallow Draft for Florida, Bahamas, Chesapeake
CORRECTION:
Earlier I posted a long post with photos about SVERIGE a Bristol 40 for sale. That boat is in CHARLESTON SC and NOT in St. Johns USVI.
The original sale post on Facebook only said "St. Johns" so I asked the owner of the boat to clarify. Here is his response today:
"Charleston South Carolina, St John's Yacht Harbor Marina E dock, slip E 33"
Unfortunately I am unable to go back to my original post on that boat to correct the location.

With a fellow on the multihull equivalent thread just having bought a low priced but out of sorts edel cat that appeared there, I can't believe this location information hasn't spurred a CFer to put money down on a well kept 40' Bristol!
