Apache 37.

This one doesn't have all the Bells and Whistles as the one above but does have a new diesel, tiller autopilot, and is less thank half the price of the other one at $11,999.

Plus it looks like the pictures in person.

That could be one hell of a deal. It has I believe the early decks that were prone to getting squishy. I read in sailpower’s posted link how Chris Craft actually replaced the decks on the early ones! It would be wise to check that. But if that issue is resolved and keel/bolts are good, wow, nice boat for the money methinks.

Another Pearson Vanguard, this one in Cleveland, $10K. Not much in the description, but the pictures are appealing. I didn't see a picture of the engine though.

Wow, that is one nice Vanguard! Beautiful, and a great price IMO.
Great first post nexthop! Welcome aboard.

Here's an interesting specimen.

A Robert Perry classic, the Valiant 40. For a tad less than 30k.

https://www.sailboatlistings.com/view/75106

It looks like that boat requires quite a bit of love. This is no hidden gem. It looks like it requires quite a bit of work. Aesthetically it evidently needs work. But might not be that far away as many others. Also, price is always negotiable upon current state.

In any case, looks like a valid option if you are looking and you could put the work (if it's not a complete rundown).

As a Valiant owner and someone who’s been in a lot of them, and done extensive refit work to mine, this DOES look like an interesting specimen, particularly at that price. She does not look ridden hard and put away wet.

A lot of Valiant 40 owners let the exterior teak go grey and take good care of it. This looks like an example of that. I don’t see any real red flags, but pictures always make a boat look better than it is. The sole looks a bit rough, and there are various possible causes of that, but that’s about it

The real issue will be the engine and the fuel tank. Repowering a Valiant 40 can be extremely expensive due to the side entry and aft cabin. Depending on the engine in her (Valiant used several during the course of production) some cabinetry surgery may be required. And since you have to pull the engine to get to the fuel tank...

I’ve seen worse looking examples of 70’s Valiants go for substantially more. I’ll leave it at that.

No, it's an old boat. Boats get wet inside. I flood the interior just about every year for some reason or another. The water stains wick up and make it look like it was deep, but it wasn't. Pitcure leaving all the ports open during a tropical downpour...

Could be water damage from a leaking scupper hose which exit above the water line but are behind the lockers. I had that on mine and found a loose hose clamp that was letting rainwater drip in. Or even just a bad habit of leaving the hatches open in rain. It’s not from submergence.

I hope someone takes a look at that Valiant. Appears to be a killer deal.
