Re: Boats Less Than $30K Recent Noteworthy Finds

Herreshoff Cat Ketch (Free Standing Masts)
___________________________

Steady's Notes

The photos of the boat show a nice looking boat, in what appears to be good condition. As with any boat, a survey is a good idea. Caveat Emptor.

I like what I see in the photos. The interior plan or layout is different from most boats. It has two double berths with two heads, a dinette and two barrel chairs (I don't care for those chairs). The wood interior appears to be in good condition and is more unusual than most boats of this era, because of the lighter wood finish. There are more photos showing the interior and cockpit and details on the linked page.

This is an uncommon boat. The Free Standing Masts are a positive feature in my view. If you are unfamiliar with this design, see the thread I started on "Boats with Free Standing Masts" for much more information and many owner comments.

It has a shallow draft. 4' 6"

To THREE SISTERS:
That Nautilus is a nice find. I like that boat, as small pilothouse boats go. The newer engine is a big plus. The price is very attractive too. Thanks for adding it to this mix.

Your quite welcome Steadman Uhlich. It seems I recall your being partial to Pilothouses. Myself, would not mind the Niagara Nautilus at all. A C&C hull if I'm not mistaken. Too soon for me though.

Steady's Notes

The photos of the boat show a nice looking boat, in what appears to be good condition for its age. However, a boat this age will possibly require some updating of wiring and plumbing, etc. Notice that several items have already been updated, most notably the relatively recent Diesel engine. Key points to consider are the engine, standing rigging, Portland Pudgy dinghy and davits included, relatively new electronics, "new" Harken ST winches and furler, electric windlass, etc.

I am posting the ad's description of these updates and gear, as they do represent good additions that have some value. As with any boat, a survey is a good idea. Caveat Emptor.

I like what I see in the photos, for a boat this age. There are more photos showing the interior and cockpit and details on the linked page.

Steady's Notes

The photos of the boat show a roomy boat in what appears to be fair to good condition for its age. What is noteworthy about this boat is the very low Asking Price.

The ad does mention some needed repairs (which may be minor) and the reason I am including this boat here in this thread is because it may represent a good entry point for someone looking for a low cost liveaboard boat, especially one with an aft centerline double berth that is so frequently requested by buyers.

As with any boat, a survey is a good idea. Caveat Emptor!

I am not endorsing this boat as a Blue Water Boat, nor am I saying it is in seaworthy or very good condition. I am simply sharing it here because it may fit the needs or wants of someone reading this.

I would Ask you to PM me but with not a single picture or pictures almost nobody is going to be interested in ask you to p.m. you and just keep on scrolling by your ad this is common sense I would think everybody knows but it still amazes me how many people don’t take the time to post a single picture or put up any of the main details.

I’m sure a lot of people are interested but you would definitely get actual buyers interested if you included at least one photo and some more basic information like the BM if you want to sell your boat anytime soon it is definitely a must p.m. me if you want

Re: Boats Less Than $30K Recent Noteworthy Finds

You misunderstand. No one is "advertising" anything here, just posting info about stuff they come across.

As is made clear if you actually read the text.

If you are interested, follow up with the people posting the ad at the other sites, not forum members here.

Hope that helps. . .
