Ralfreds there is a section for posting boats for sale. Instead of clicking on the fleet and monohulls as you did to get here, click on crusing business & commerce and boats for sale.

Serious inquiries only pls. Way too many things to list. This boat is a Pacific veteran. Has sailed to New Zealand, Mexico, and Tahiti. The book, "Sail'n South" chronicles Quark's maiden voyage to Tahiti in 1979. Book was released on Amazon in 2005 written by the builder David Case. The boat is a kit boat with hand layed up glass and extra heavy built with glassed-in ribs in the hull to add rigidity. A must see, one-of-a kind little ship. Very warm and cozy.

Re: Boats Less Than $30K Recent Noteworthy Finds

I just read the intro to this thread more carefully and realize I need to add more. I am not experienced, sailed quite a bit many years ago and recently passed my ASA 104 with intention of buying a boat in next couple of years. I am cruising the classifieds. This caught my eye for cost, size, maintenance history, inventory and blue water background. Trying to learn more about separating the wheat from the chaff and learn what to look for in Classfieds. The Quark seems to be a custom build, can't find any information on it..

Not really sure how to post pics. We'll see how it goes. This boat is on CL in Las Vegas and had a link to this page. $29k

PENGUIN - W32

1974 Westsail 32
Factory finished
Full keel, a good bluewater design, not the fastest boat but with a competent skipper they do fairly well.

I haven't seen the boat and have no affiliation with the owner.

Re: Boats Less Than $30K Recent Noteworthy Finds

I posted this on another thread from someone who has a 30K budget. This is in L.A. area. These old Islander 34s are pretty rare, and I THINK they were pretty well built. This one looks to be well-maintained. It is one I'd look at if I had 30K. I am not sure about the rudder, they seem a little small, but I have never sailed one.

I don't know why, but somewhere in the recesses of my brain the name "Quark" (for a boat) pops up with positive vibes. It looks good. I like the hull shape. If I had 40k that is one I'd check out for sure. I say 40K because it is smart to NOT blow all your budget on the purchase!

That looks pretty sweet for $20k, nicely taken care of and loaded. Canvas, dingy, gen set. They don't mention if boat is gas or diesel though. Old school design, but protected rudder etc.

Re: Boats Less Than $30K Recent Noteworthy Finds

this is a landfall 38 that I personally looked into. just saw that it was recently re-listed. nice boat and a fast cruiser. only reason I didn't buy it is because I found my current boat.

1984 C&C Fiberglass Landfall sailboat for sale in Florida

A two man design firm, Cuthbertson and Cassian, rocketed from obscurity to dominance. Not only were their boats fast, but they were well engineered, extremely well built, and always beautiful. As the trophies stacked up, so did the orders for new boats. Seemingly overnight, C&C became one of the largest sailing yacht builders in the world. Certainly it was the top performance boat builder in the world through the 1970’s. The names are legendary: Red Jacket, Robon, Sorcery, Arieto, Evergreen, Rampage, Archangel and thousands of other well designed, fast and graceful boats that are still sailing today. (Manufacturer quote).

This C&C Landfall 38, ROKSOLANA, is a great looking and excellent sailing example of the C&C breed. She has been lightly used the couple years as home when the owner is not at the helm of a maritime freighter.

ROKSOLANA Is a sturdy, fast and safe boat for anyone who would like sail the Florida Keys, Bahamas or do local racing.

also. for those looking at this thread searching for a boat. hang in there, be patient, the right deal will come along. this is my 1970 hinckley 38 "sirocco" paid a mere $17,500 for her. $1500 to get the engine overhauled, have the mast stepped and she was ready to sail again. I'm putting more into her but thats only because I'm an insane perfectionist when it comes to boats.
