The hard chines make me think that this is glass over plywood but it's hard to know. It's certainly an atypical hull design, especially the electronic centerboard which appears to be ballasted.
At first glance this appears to be a lot of boat for the money but considering it's atypical design, significant modifications & that it's a custom build of unknow quality I'd want the best surveyor in the world if I was serious about this one and even then it's a crapshoot. It could be in good condition but a poor design. At the least I'd want some extensive sea trials in more than just calm water because there's no telling how this boat will handle. All that being said it could be a great boat at a great price.

And it has an asterisk beside the price. Wonder what that means?

Very good comment (and advice).
Very good advice about getting the survey and the more challenging seatrial.
I concur.

That boat is a very odd design.
While I like Pilothouse boats, and I do like some of what I see in that boat's interior, when I look at that boat hull and keel design and the deck with the lack of side decks, the need to cross a high cabin with low lifelines, the boat makes me turn away, but only after some fascination that the boat developed into what it apparently has become.
That is a boat that is "special" but in an odd way. It is unusual. Consequently, it has been hard to sell (it has been on the market for a while as I recall).
Aesthetics can matter and have value. I also value function. One hopes to "love" one's boat, even if the boat is not considered by most to be "pretty." I just can't get past that photo that shows the boat on the hard (almost profile) that shows the hull shape and keel shape.

I took that to mean that it is located offsite from the broker's location.
The boat description text has that mentioned along with ***

From the ad, near the bottom...

I was hoping you would chime in. It would be interesting to contact the seller & hear the story behind this one.

That boat scares me. The keel looks like a DIY job and the hull extension is just plain ugly. Pass.

Worthless trivia:
The Chinook 34 by Cascade is arguably the 1st production keel boat.
The Cascade 29 is still being offered new making it the longest production run of any fiberglass keelboat, just shy of 60yr at this point.

Hey there, I'm a new member based in Germany.
