Insofar as buying your own and doing it yourself, yes, if that's what floats your boat. Some people love doing that and feel their time is worth the experience gained. Rock on, enjoy.
There are far more people who naively think or are sold the idea that a fixer upper boat is as good a deal as fixer upper houses. This is where I'm coming from in my comments. Time, money, or quality: Pick any two.

Full disclosure, my cushions were done by a local guy who's shop is at his house. He is a seasoned professional who does a good job but his prices are lower than what a typical shop would charge.

Re: Boats Less Than $30K Recent Noteworthy Finds
$4500 must be the standard west coast quote. Thread drift but we just finished reupholtering our 40' O'Day with Brisa for under $1000.
It took a week or so but it was sure better than the $4500 we were quoted for a "professional job" in sunbrella.
More than paid for our Sailrite machine!

hahaha, yeah I guess so. I figured keeping a couple machines would be handy down the road. I guess the key is finding the right design for the frame.

Re: Boats Less Than $30K Recent Noteworthy Finds
Landfall 38 gets my vote.
A great boat with high quality build details. Punches through offshore waves and swells, and tracks on rails.
A cruiser that will do a circumnavigation with easy minor mods, (wind vane, more reefs) and will never be the last boat to the destination. (usually the first )
3 years ago there were many on the market. Not so many now.
Dont be scared by the wet Balsa Core alert. Just make sure that it is sound when you buy it, and you drill holes though it properly afterwards.

That broker typically sells insurance totals and salvage boats from what I have seen.

Almost sure the interior doesn't look much better than the exterior.
That should explain the over saturated chromatic interior photos.
And the "scammy" feeling due to private listing - bidders' identities protected.
Otherwise you could just contact the bidder and advise them to stay away from this boat!!!
