Thanks John!
Kind words are always appreciated.
So are the contributions you and others make to this thread and other topics on CF. I enjoy reading what you folks write and every comment and anecdote gets me thinking.

Steady,
Are we allowed to post a request on your thread?
Something like :
''looking for model A of such company or model B of another company... not older than 19xx, under $30k''

This thread was started, in part, to show off boats that were realistically "sail away" with only minor fitting out. My response, along with others, was to point out this boat may not fit that notion.
Minor meaning a small fraction of the purchase price, i.e. 20%.
Not a multiple of the purchase price, as is the case with all project boats.
There is a thread for cheap and project boats, and as suggested, maybe you could start one for "worthy classics needing rescue". We have rescue sites for pets, why not boats?

I think this is a great idea. The last page of every WoodenBoat Magazine is titled "Save A Classic". I think that's a great name for a Steadman's new thread!

Here's an example of a frequently sought boat, an Endeavor 37 A plan, on our own forum, appears very good, and ...

Yes. The Endeavour 37 A Plan is one of my favorite boats for this thread ("Less Than $30K"). My Favorite of the two plans is the A Plan, as it is much more "open" feeling in the saloon area, and the two aft berths (private aft cabin double and wide quarterberth to starboard) are wider than those found on many boats of similar size.
Here is a very good detailed description of the design, including details about the hull construction, materials used, engine, etc.
Endeavour 37 Sloop Design History and Boat Specifications
My observations are based on my own sailing experience on the design (2,500 offshore miles from Hawaii to San Francisco).
Of note:
1. Numerous opening ports (10) and hatches for good ventilation in tropical areas.
2. Molded keel (lead is molded in keel) with keel molded as single unit with hull.
3. Nice functional cockpit coaming, keeps water out of the cockpit.
4. Large cockpit with long seats (good for sleeping in cockpit)
5. Transom that is easier for arch and davits placement

Hi.
There are no rules against doing that.
But, I suggest posting that kind of request in the "Boats for Sale & Wanted" forum here on this site instead. Post as a "Boat Wanted" and I bet you will get responses.
I think those types of requests tend to draw all kinds of responses, which may derail some of what happens in this thread.
Also I think members who want to sell their boat would be more likely to view that forum and see your request, and respond too.
So, my suggestion is to post there (the other forum) rather than here when looking for a particular type or model of boat or when open to a wide range of boats, etc.

I have a few more threads in mind, which I think others will find very interesting too. I have been working on them (concepts) for a while, just not quite ready to launch them yet. Stay tuned!
One thread will be focused on Metal Boats, and another on Wood Boats. There may be some classics in those.
The idea of a "Classics" to save/buy thread is a good one. I try to post noteworthy boats (of any price) in the "Outstanding Boats" thread (based on what I see and like, most are for sale too). And the "Plastic Classics" thread has a lot of traction with many boats that could be called "classics" too.

Thanks for bringing it to the mix here in this thread.
I noticed the boat was listed at $35,000 in August 2017. The Asking Price has been reduced to $28K now. Apparently due to health of owner.
I very much like what I saw in the photos of the interior (I like white interiors). Overall, it looks like a nice comfortable boat. I also like that it has a centerboard and shallow draft.
I will post a few of the photos from the ad, so others can see. I think it is a nice design for cruising, and Dickerson had a nice reputation, from what I have read in the past.

Normally, Bowman yachts are much finer inside than that boat shows. It looks like it was salvaged. Horrible condition. SEe photos.
Let's keep the massive project boats off this thread, please.
