I like to look at them but maybe a year or two out before I can make the move. I think having a affordable to me place to keep it is the first goal.

Also, for anyone thinking about taking the seller up on leaving the boat in Hudson, a 4' draft is about the maximum you can get away with up here if you want to be able to sail the boat very much. All of that being said, this could be a really good deal.
Your right about Hudson, the West Coast of Florida would probably best be seen with something that dafts 2 to 3 foot maybe a catamaran, and I believe the owner is being far from honest with the ad, and maybe a complete fraud.

I'm not sure I'd go that far. The add indicates that the boat needs to be refurbished so that's accurate. There is a Westsail at Hudson Beach so that's probably accurate also. The pictures not being current is misleading but pictures of boats are usually misleading in that they make the boat look better than it really is. However, if the pictures are of a different boat I would consider that fraudulent. Doesn't really matter unless someone is dumb enough to buy the boat without actually looking at it which some people actually do.

TO Everyone:

First, thank you to everyone who has participated in this thread's discusion and has contributed anything regarding boats in this category.

For the purpose of this thread, please try to post more than just a link to a sale listing on another site. Post some content here on CF, and that could be your description or photos or something more than just a link.

For example:

What makes it nice, to you?
What did you see that makes it noteworthy?
What did you notice?

Etc.

Re: Boats Less Than $30K Recent Noteworthy Finds

I just bought a Glastron Gt 249, 2008, 75 hours on the engine.

$6,250.

I don't think it gets much better than that

Re: Boats Less Than $30K Recent Noteworthy Finds

Notice to Mariners (shoppers).

This Westerly Sea Hawk (34ft) CC, looks nice, looks clean, has an aft cabin, has a newish engine (Beta), and has several things that most cruisers add upon purchase (dinghy, outboard, electric windlass, new clear screens on dodger, GPS, VHF, etc.).

Take a look at the boat's gear update list and make sure you read the comments posted below by the owner, as you will see the engine has recently been serviced and more.

The price has been reduced to 22,000 EURO OBO.

Boat is located in Greece on hard.

My Disclaimers and A Few Requests

I have no financial or other connection to this boat, the owner, or the seller.
I have not seen this boat in person, nor have I sailed on it. But I would like to sail on one.
As with any boat, it is a good idea to research the design to learn about how they sail, common problems and owner opinions.
As with any boat, it is smart to have a qualified yacht surveyor perform a survey of the boat to assess its condition.
I am posting this to help others find boats. This one caught my eye, and I hope this thread helps others find a good fit for them.
I hope this thread proves helpful to CF Members. If so, let me know, as it is nice to know the time spent on it has helped others.
IF you purchase this boat, let me know (a Private Message would be OK).
IF you purchase this boat, I would enjoy seeing it, or going for a sail on it, if I am ever in your area. Or, if you own a similar or sister boat send me a PM. I enjoy sailing on a wide variety of boats and would like to get some time on many designs, including this one.

Good luck on your boat hunt!

Pearson 36PH (Pilothouse) 1980

Asking Price = Can$ 35,900 (US$ 28,903)
Location = Duncan BC Canada

Steady's Notes
I am adding this boat to the thread because it may appeal to a sailor in the PNW area. I like pilothouse boats, and because they are more rarely seen, I like to share those I see.
Looks like it could use some updating.

Steady's Notes

This ad appears new on Yachtworld, but has few photos (only exterior).
What caught my eye was the relatively new engine, and some recent work that is common, but often needed on older boats. In addition, this ad says the boat will come with free storage for some time, and free delivery on the East Coast.
