1980 Bayfield 29 | sailboats | St. Catharines | Kijiji
Year = 1980
Location = Ontario Canada
Asking Price = 15,750 CAD [$] = ‎11,737 USD [$]
__________

Steady's Notes:
This boat model is distinctive for a few reasons:
1. Clipper bow. (I like the look.)
2. Unusual layout that does not have a typical V Berth forward.

It also has a shallow draft, making this a good choice for ICW and Bahamas or Florida Keys cruising. It can be put on a trailer.

I happen to like the layout, because if you are a single (solo sailor) you can enjoy the pullout double berth in the salon settee, or one of the two quarter berths aft. For a small boat (less than 30 feet) it has a good use of space for a single sailor or a couple.

The Diesel engine is relatively small in horsepower (12hp).
The tankage is relatively small (about 20 gallons for fuel or water is common on these boats).

This particular boat (linked example) appears very clean and has a very clean engine.
________

Photos I post are for ILLUSTRATIVE purposes!

NOTE: I will include photos of this model or type of boat to ILLUSTRATE the boat design. Not all of the photos I post in a profile such as this are from a single boat, nor necessarily from the boat that is linked with a current sale price. I do this in order to ILLUSTRATE this type or model of boat.

Whats the draft? Fiberglass or steel? Also let me know which marina she is in, type of ropes she has, what kind of bottom paint, engine size and tankage.
I am looking for something that can do 3600 miles in 24 hours, I did the math - that is about 150 knots on autopilot. No pictures required. I can do a deal sight unseen and issue you a bank draft if you send $150 for expenses to my address in Tanzania.

Re: Boats Less Than $30K Recent Noteworthy Finds

Regardless of any other considerations I have always considered Bayfields to be very pleasing to the eye, and I understand they have a good reputation.

There are a few on boatdealers.ca that meet the criteria of this thread, including this one: https://www.boatdealers.ca/boats-for...an-bay-ontario

Although maybe I shouldn't post that - I'm thinking I should be looking at it myself. Back off, folks.

Another example of how pictures can be misleading. The interior of a Bayfield 29 is actually pretty small. Really not big enough for 2 people to live on for an extended amount of time. Great boat though.

Re: Boats Less Than $30K Recent Noteworthy Finds

This just came up locally in Kingston Ontario Canada asking $15,900 cdn (about $12,000 usd). I don't know the seller, but I have seen this boat sailing in the islands. Its not a derelict...I would guess its being sold due to old age or health reasons. Sometimes you just have to sell your boat :-(

If anyone is seriously interested, I'd be happy to view, take more pics, and offer my opinion (FWIW). I like the tiller, but not the A4...good engine, just not good for extended trips due to range.

Re: Boats Less Than $30K Recent Noteworthy Finds

I can't recall if I posted this one already, but it really catches my attention. The Alberg 30 is a respected blue water boat. This one is asking $5,000 cdn ($3,700 usd) and seems to have some wiggle room on the price too. The catch...its a 1965 and has an electric motor. But if that rocks your boat, or you just want a decent boat at a super low price, then might be worth a look. Located in Ottawa, Canada. Yes, they have sailboats there.

Standard disclaimer, I have no connection to the owner or the boat.

Classic Full Keel Alberg 30 | sailboats | Ottawa | Kijiji

Alberg 30's have withstood the test of time.

Carl Alberg's classic design has wonderful lines and great sailing characteristics .- This 30 foot sloop is a safe, fun, reliable sea boat. Built by Whitby Yachts with full keel, long cockpit, and room to sleep 4!
Canada's answer to the Pearson Triton, this bigger, better built boat is a true classic, with over 500 built in a 14 year build run. Monsarrat has been sailing Lake Ontario and the Ottawa River for just over 50 years! She is hull number 186, one of the original pre liner boats, built with a thick fiberglass hull- truly forgiving to an inexperienced skipper.

This boat is being offered at an aggressive price, with any reasonable offer considered. I have to sell her, as I bought a newer boat. I am a skipper, not a Commodore!

Equipment:

Roller- furling jib and loose footed mainsail with Doyle stackpack. Both Jib and main are lightly used and are in excellent condition. Roller furler installed 2010.
New low pressure alcohol stove
New house electrical wiring and panel
Boat converted from gas engine to electric propulsion in 2009. (Electric yacht e3500 conversion kit) motor controller defect needs repair
35lb Bruce anchor with 120 ft of chain and rope rode
Boarding ladder
Ice Box
Cockpit mounted compass
Raymarine Autohelm Series ST2000 Tillerpilot
Depth sounder
Sony stereo sound system
Automatic electric fresh water pump
Battery charger
Fenders,mooring lines and winch handles
Two sheet winches, 1 mast winche
4 lifejackets
sheets and halyards
VHF radio. .
Folding cradle
