C&C Landfall 38
Steady NOTES:
1. This boat was designed as cruising boat and has an unusual layout. I am posting this as an example of the model along with specs and a recent (October 28 2016) sale listing to ILLUSTRATE a street price and condition. NOT all of the photos are of the boat in the sale listing.
2. Note this boat like other
C&C boats has a balsa cored hull.
3. Note this boat has a V Drive.

Notes from Others about this design and layout:
"Interior arrangements are very much a matter of personal preference and intended use, but for my taste the arrangement of the Landfall 38 is just about perfect for a coastal cruiser. " - Naval Architect Jack Horner of Boat US
The
C&C Landfall series was C&C Yachts pivot from proven and fast racer/cruisers to more long-range friendly
family cruisers. People familiar with C&C yachts prize them for their speed and construction, as they are one of the only full cored construction yards to get it "right."
The layout of the Landfall 38, along with its proven sailing ability, make this boat a perfect opportunity for those looking to upgrade or for those looking to find a comfortable cruiser with C&C's intuitive spatial layout.
This boat boasts a full size T
cockpit with asymmetrically balance
cockpit door that leads into the captian's berth. In this berth you will find an offset double on one side and a
single on the other, along with a pilots station and charting table. Further forward one leads into a large U shaped
galley on port. This
galley boasts a gimballed
stove, full stainless sink, and has a very large amount of
storage.
John Kretschmer of Sailing Magazine writes of the layout, "At first glance this arrangement seems weird but it really works for cruising, especially for couples. The nav station and off-watch crew are within easy earshot of the
helm and more importantly can be in the cockpit quickly in an
emergency."
Opposite the galley is the roomy
head, and further afront is a split
salon perfect for extra crew, as each settee can make a
single bed in a pinch. Further ahead are hanging lockers and a nicely appointed V double berth. The overall layout of this boat is very attractive to people that know sailing, and that is exactly what Jack Horner means. There is a lot of open space and yet technically there are two staterooms that can sleep up to 7 passengers with both settees.
Horner also states, "Although the Landfall 38 is a cruising boat, her heritage is that of a racer/cruiser. That heritage is reflected in her handling and performance, and she is easily balanced and driven at all points of sail. The sail area
displacement ratio is 15.9 and
displacement length ratio is 271, both of which are reasonable for this type of cruiser. The large foretriangle and equally large headsails make a good
roller furling system a must."
"Construction of the Landfall 38 is typical of other C&C models with composite hull of
fiberglass resin and balsa
wood core. C&C has more experience with composite construction than practically any other boat
builder, and it is unusual to find any significant structural problems with the hulls of these boats. " - Jack Horner of Boat US
