Some of these boats creep me out. Like maybe I will have too much to drink one night and end up married to one,,,,,I mean, owning it,,,,,,,

You will have to read the book..."The boat who wouldn't float".

I think they left a zero off the asking price when they re-listed that Hans Koll Schooner.
She does look like a great boat from the outside but even if the inside is AAA the ask is on the ambitious side.
Here is her February listing. https://www.sailboatlistings.com/photographs/89897

It blows me away how many good deals there is in Florida. Yet I know a lot of members here cannot find a boat. Maybe slip rates are huge in Fl.

I don't think that slip prices are too out of line. I had a liveaboard with water and electricity for my 30' Hunter for about $400 a while back on Fort Myers Beach.

You would not get a yacht for those Florida prices here in the UK , I guess it's the costs of their upkeep in Florida ,that motivates the owners to sell them off

It's also the fact that it's end-of-the-line for some cruisers. Good weather if you don't mind the heat and humidity and a few named storms, means a lot of US and Canadian people retire, cruise "Down South" and eventually end up in Florida.
There used to be a lot of abandoned boats too, although I think there have been attempts to clean them up as waterfront property development spreads. There are many boats that have been written off due to storm damage. Some may be worth saving if you're inclined.
One problem is the strong sunlight and salt air beats up a boat really quickly. Gelcoat, paint and varnish age prematurely.
Also humid conditions mean that if a boat is left closed up for more than a year or so, you could have a lot of mould (mold) inside that will be a huge problem. The topsides get strewn with wind-borne detritus that quickly will start growing vegetation.
Make sure you actually visit and inspect the boat yourself before buying anything! Things look better in photos (especially 10 years old photos!)

Funniest book ever. He really got the dialect right. I never met Farley but people who knew him. One was an elderly lady who was a young girl and daughter of the boats original owner/builder. She said Farley was pretty drunk a lot. I doubt he would have argued with her.

Thank You for the caution , I'm from Scotland ,we don't have to worry about the strong sunlight lol
Yachts are generally cheaper in the States compared with European prices ,I've seen a cherubini 37 on yachtworld that I like ,something like that will do just fine I a couple of years
