I'd love to have that boat but getting her moved would completely blow my budget.

Re: Boats Less Than $30K Recent Noteworthy Finds
Say $10k. But thats only the start.
Other potentials are
New exhaust system
Maybe new shaft and prop
Batteries and wiring
Some engines have good access to remove. But foe some it is a major problem. At the extreme the engine needs to he dismantled in place and taken out. Not saying this is like that but it is a possibility.
If you care to learn you can do most everything yourself. If you farm it out you could easily he another $20k over the engine.
A suite of sails could be $8 - $12 grand. Our boat is a bit bigger and I am looking at $4-$5k for a mainsail, genoa is about the same.
Then again, it might be a snap. All depends. The add tells you very little.

Notes
SEA WOLF 40 is the name of the original Garden design built under the supervision of Bill Hardin. The original Sea Wolf was built in Japan during the late 50s by Okomato Shipyard with whom Hardin worked. He begin building in Taiwan around 1960 where he partnered with the Chen family of Formosa Boat Builders. There the Sea Wolf was built in both wood and fiberglass hulls. A number of derivatives were built by different yards in Taiwan under a number of other names. Some were direct copies (SEA TIGER 41, YANKEE CLIPPER, ATLANTIC CLIPPER 41, CLIPPER 41), while others, like the CT-41 were completely different although based on the Sea Wolf. Still others, built from different molds were also derived from the Sea Wolf. Including: ISLAND TRADER 41, TRANSWORLD 41.

DIY engine and rigging will be around $25,000 to get on the water safely. Currently the cheapest engine new or used are Beta Marine unless you go really old like 1980's then you can find take outs that need reconditioning for under $5,000. That boat needs at least 40hp. I would go with 50hp in either Beta or a company that uses Perkins engines. That just because I know those engines from the agricultural and heavy equipment markets.

I can almost look out my bedroom window and see the Perkins factory ,it's now owned by caterpillar
I like the beta diesels ,cheap for spares ,I'd go down the DIY route ,the rigging does not phase me or the electrical stuff , I've never fitted an engine in a boat only motorcycles ,so that part could be interesting

A new marinized Mitsubishi S4L2 42hp with a TMC gearbox is $6800 plus delivery. Then the fun begins.

Occasionally you can get a bargain at the Perkins factory ,my buddy paid £600.00 for two engines ,they had failed quality control because they had been painted the wrong colour ,he marinerised one of them and kept the second for spares

You're ahead of the game. My schooling put me in a good spot to be a boat tech, which I was for a while in my youth. Now it's DIY when I have a boat.
